SPOKANE, WA – April 10, 2006 – Servatron Inc, a leading provider of electronic manufacturing services (EMS) today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Itron Inc (NASDAQ: ITRI) to continue the manufacturing and service of Itron products and will lease additional space out of Itron’s Spokane Valley headquarter building. In addition, Servatron has repurchased the minority ownership stake that Itron held in Servatron.
The manufacturing and service agreement between the companies calls for Servatron to provide manufacturing and service on a number of current and future Itron products. The contracted services include turnkey materials procurement, manufacturing, testing, shipping, and depot repair service on Itron products. The agreements are five years in length.
“We’ve come full circle with Itron by signing this agreement,” said Tod Byers, Servatron’s president. “Itron gave us the opportunity to create this company locally, when they could have sold it to another entity outside of the region. This agreement shows the faith that Itron continues to place in Servatron to build and support their products for the long term.”
Steve Helmbrecht, Itron senior vice president and chief financial officer, said the agreement between Itron and Servatron is a big win for the local economy.
“We retain jobs in the Spokane region, which continues to pump money into the local economy,” Helmbrecht said. “Everyone gains here—Itron leases out additional space in its current headquarter building to Servatron, which allows them to continue to grow. We’ve worked together for the past six years, and this agreement assures that we will continue to work well together in the future.”
The long term lease agreement allows Servatron to occupy an additional 30,000 square feet of current Itron space, more than doubling Servatron current space within the facility. Itron is moving to a new facility in Liberty Lake.
“Obtaining this additional space from Itron will allow Servatron to gain synergy from consolidation of all operations into one facility and provide ample growth space for new and future customers and their products,” said Keith Swenson, Servatron’s vice president of Engineering.
